Malia's Miles - Full Time RVer website

Here's what Malia says about herself and her website:

I am a fulltime RVer and consider myself extremely blessed to be able to live this lifestyle I've chosen for myself. I've experienced a lot in these 5 years and one of the things I want to do is share some of what I've learned along the way. So much of it came from other RVers, who are some of the most friendly people on earth, always so willing to help and share. I hope to continue this tradition and "pay it forward" by being of service to other traveling souls. We most certainly are a special breed!
What inspired this site

I've kept an online journal called "Inspiration's Journey" since I took off as a way to share what I was seeing and feeling with my family and friends. My first article, "Alaska Alone," was published in the March 2005 issue of the Good Sam magazine, "Highways." The response to this and to my journal inspired me to begin work on this site to provide info to RVers with our specific needs in mind. After all, there's a lot of info we who drive something 36' long, towing a car behind us, need that a little Toyota doesn't!

I will provide my honest reviews of the campgrounds I visit, including pictures that they don't show on their own website. Beyond the dry stats, I will also give my impression of the feel of the place - how friendly are the people - the kind of things I would like to know before deciding on where I want to live, even if it's only for a couple of days.

Besides camping choices, I'll let you know about some of the local activities and businesses. And while I will partially support this site by selling ads to places I have visited and endorse, no one gets to approve what I say in my "2 Cents" section. I've had businesses want to change what I highlighted in my opinion, and that is one area in which I will never compromise. I want whoever reads this site to know that I mean what I say and that my reviews cannot be bought at any price. What I write about and what I say will always be my choice alone.

So as I begin this venture, I hope you will become my traveling partners. I will always welcome your feedback and want to hear of anything else you would like to see here. The site is most definitely a work in progress and will be expanding as I continue my journey. Visit Malia's Miles

Your RV Lifestyle - Fulltimer's website

Jose and Jill Ferrer, at ages 56 and 51 moved from a two story townhouse complete with basement and a two car garage... into a 40 foot-long motorhome. They continued to work for a while and adjusted to RV living.

Jose and Jill made the decision that they would rather spend less and live more. Accepting that they would have to pinch some pennies and probably work part-time along the way. They consider themselves to be pretty resilient and industrious people, and decided to get on with their RV dream.

So they started their RV lifestyle adventure. Over the years they have enjoyed the travels and the everyday living and the wonderful people they meet. They have found lots of things to like about RV life (and a few that are not so hot). They keep learning and enjoying as they go along on their journey and share those experiences on this website - http://Your-RV-Lifestyle.com

Southern California Deserts and Free Campgrounds

Desert Dutch and his pal, Desert Dog Dutchess, have a great... no... GREAT website about the Free Campgrounds of southern California. What ever you would like to know about the campgrounds, the desert, the places to see as well as good old stories about the area can be found on this website. Text and photos have been done by Desert Dutch in a warm, campfire chat sort of manner that keeps you wanting more no matter what sort of RV you travel in or what your style of camping is.

The site is easy to navigate, has beautiful photography and is a fun read. Check it out at: http://www.desertdutch.org/

Spend the Winter RVing in Texas

Fran and I had the opportunity to spend a couple of winters RVing in Texas and really enjoyed it. I will definitely go back. Of course Texas is a big place so even with all the miles we put on the RV we only saw a small part of the state.

Being big is a good thing for Texas since it means you have plenty of choices of places to visit. Climate and habitat vary greatly in the different regions of Texas so you're sure to find a nesting place to suit you. Below are a few selected sites that will give you more information about wintering in Texas.

RVers who have email Newsletters

Did you know that many RVers use email newsletters to keep relatives and friends up to date on their activities. Most, of course, are olny of interest to family and friends but there are a few that are well witten and interesting to read even if you don't know the people.

Over the years I've found a few that I really enjoy. They are open to anyone who wants to subscribe so if you like armchair RVing like I do give them a try.

Full time RVers Coleen and Bob Sykora have spent the last to winters in Alaska and Coleen writes regularly about life there as few RVers ever see. As you might expect she has has some great tips on cold weather RVing.

You can read the current issue and supbscibe to her ‘RV Life and Travel: Life As We Live It... on the road with Bob and Coleen.' newsletter at her web site.

Peggi and John McDonald are full time RVers from Canada who spend the winter in warmer climates. I met them in McAllen, Texas last winter. This year they chose Florida and Peggi's colorful and detailed accounts of life in a Florida RV resort make me wish I were there. Subscribe to Peggi's 'P&J's Weekly Diary' on here web site.

Fran and I even send out a newsletter on occation. I'll confess we're not near as regular about it as the others here but you're welcome to subscribe. You'll find a subscription form at our web site.

Full time workcampers Leo & LaVonne Hanes send out a nice newsletter. It's no as much a personal diary as it is informational. Lots of timely facts and tips of interest to workcampers and RVers in general. Subscribe at their web site.

RV technician Less Doll has a great RV maintenance information web site at http://RVersCorner.com and you can subscribe to his newsletter when you vist.

Another RV tech Mark Polk, along with wife Dawn, offer a monthly newsletter with lots of good info. Again, subscribe at their web site.

Technician Tim Collard, sends out his RV Tech Tips newsletter twice a month! subscribe at: http://rvtechtips.com/

The granddaddy of all the RV newsletters is Chuck Woodbury's RV Traveler. With close 100,000 subscribers you're probably already receiving it but just in case you're not you can subscribe at: http://rvtravel.com

David and Bonnie Smith

Fran and I had the pleasure of meeting David and Bonnie Smith and family at a gathering of Escapees Club woodcarvers. David, wife Bonnie and two teenagers travel full time so the web site has the perspective of a family on the road. Visit the Smith’s web site at: redroadsliving.com

Rich & Diane Emond

Rich & Diane Emond were RVers during the early 80s but drifted away when all four of their kids were playing sports all year and mostly on weekends. But they knew they would someday re-join the RV community and never lost site of the dream.

As time passed, the kids grew up and they became empty nesters. The dream became a goal. When Rich retired from IBM on January 31, 2000, it was time to implement a plan to full-time. Their web site chronicles their entire fulltiming life from the planning to present. roamingamerica.com

John and Libby Veach

Baby boomers John and Libby Veach were still young when retirement came along. Libby was 49 when she retired at the end of 1996, after thirty years working for the same company. John was 51 and had twenty years with his company when he retired on 1/31/00.

After owning eight RVs over the years (John bough his first at age 18 as a cheep place to live while going to college) the Veachs knew RVing was in their blood and fulltiming was the lifestyle for them. therollinghome.com

Kirk and Pam Wood

Kirk and Pam Wood bought a motorhome in 2000 when Kirk qualified for an early retirement. They sold their house in Ft. Worth, TX, and moved into the motor home on April 14,2000. When Kirk officially retired on June 29 they hit the road fulltime.

Kirk and Pam’s web site chronicles there fulltiming adventure and offers some good RVing hint’s and tips. If you are thinking of going fulltime be sure to read their “Our Life On the Road” answers to frequently asked questons. http://1tree.net/adventure/index.htm
